Milford, CT — March 10, 2026Skymira announced today the Skymira 4-Wire IP Relay (4Wire-IPR), a next-generation radio over IP (RoIP) gateway that extends land mobile radio (LMR) coverage and enables real-time GPS tracking of portable P25 radios. This allows dispatch to maintain visibility of personnel even after they leave their vehicles.

The 4Wire-IPR securely connects land mobile radios over satellite, cellular, and private IP networks, allowing agencies and critical infrastructure operators to maintain communications beyond the reach of traditional radio systems.

The platform is both manufacturer- and network-agnostic, enabling organizations to connect any radio from any manufacturer using any standard over any IP network, including Starlink, Amazon LEO, OneWeb, Intelsat, LTE, and private networks.

With multi-network capability and automatic network switching, the 4Wire-IPR maintains connectivity even when networks fail or coverage is unavailable.

“Land mobile radio systems remain the backbone of mission-critical communications,” said Octavio Cadena, Business Development & Sales Director for Skymira. “The Skymira 4-Wire IP Relay gives agencies a way to extend those systems over modern IP networks without replacing their radios. Organizations can keep the equipment they trust while adding the resilience, coverage, and interoperability required for today’s operations.”

Unlike existing RoIP solutions, the 4Wire-IPR also transmits real-time GPS data from portable P25 radios, allowing dispatch centers to maintain visibility of personnel in the field.

“We kept hearing the same request from the agencies we work with: they needed a way to track officers after they left their vehicles,” said Bob Landsfield, founder and CEO of Skymira. “When officers dismount, dispatch often loses visibility. That’s a safety risk. There wasn’t a solution available, so we engineered one. The Skymira 4-Wire IP Relay allows dispatch to maintain visibility of personnel in the field while ensuring officers can send updates, request backup, and trigger emergency alerts with confidence that the message will get through.”

The 4Wire-IPR securely transmits P25 audio and data over satellite and other IP networks, enabling GPS tracking of portable radios to provide visibility of personnel even when they operate beyond traditional P25 system coverage.

Key Capabilities

  • Connect Any Radio – any manufacturer, any standard (P25, DMR, NXDN, TETRA)
  • Use Any IP Network – satellite, cellular, or private networks
  • Multi-Network Capability – with automatic network switching
  • Highly Secure Hardware and Software – FIPS 140-2 Level 1 and AES-256-GCM encryption
  • GPS Locations for Portable P25 Radios – track dismounted personnel

The 4Wire-IPR is designed for organizations that depend on secure, reliable communications in demanding environments, including public safety agencies, utilities, wildland fire teams, and other critical infrastructure operators.

“Security isn’t something we add later – it’s built into the architecture from the start,” added Ellie Dugger, CTO of Skymira. “The Skymira 4-Wire IP Relay reflects decades of experience building secure communications technology for organizations that rely on mission-critical systems.”

The result is a highly secure system that fills radio coverage gaps and provides real-time GPS visibility for personnel operating in remote areas, disaster zones, and other locations where traditional radio networks may be unavailable.

Skymira will demonstrate the Skymira 4-Wire IP Relay live at IWCE 2026 in booth #1301.
