Verizon Partners with Skymira to Continue Bringing Land Mobile Radios onto Verizon's Nationwide Network

Government and public safety agencies can connect their two-way radios to the same network they use for phones and tablets, closing coverage gaps and unifying connectivity across operations.

Milford, CT — October 6, 2025 — Verizon has added Skymira as an additional partner to continue extending Verizon network coverage to land mobile radios. This collaboration enables Verizon’s government, public safety, and emergency response customers to connect their two-way radios to the same network they already use for phones and tablets. By providing radio coverage beyond line-of-sight, mission-critical communications remain reliable wherever duty calls.

Skymira’s radio over IP (RoIP) technology links radios to Verizon’s cellular network, giving them the same coverage as phones and tablets. In remote areas and disaster zones without cellular coverage, Skymira integrates satellite networks to maintain connectivity. Agencies gain extended radio coverage, greater operational resilience during emergencies, and unified communication across devices and networks. The Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team will also be able to incorporate this capability into future deployments supporting disasters and large-scale events.

For agents and officers in the field, communication is more than convenience – it’s a lifeline. Skymira has been designing and delivering advanced communications solutions trusted by public safety departments and government agencies since 1998. Skymira’s RoIP solutions augment existing radio systems by linking them to cellular, satellite, and other IP networks to fill coverage gaps and provide secure, reliable communications anywhere. Verizon brings decades of experience serving the same sector, offering nationwide, high-performance cellular and data coverage built to deliver the speed and security public safety missions require. Together, Verizon and Skymira help give agencies a unified way to keep all their communications connected.

“Public safety agencies and first responders rely on Verizon for mission-ready communications every day,” said Shownein Torik, Associate Director for Public Sector – Federal Sales at Verizon. “By integrating Skymira’s technology into our network, we’re giving agencies the capability to unify all their communications — radios, phones, and data — to stay connected in both routine and extreme conditions.”

Octavio Cadena, Business Development and Sales Director at Skymira, added: “When lives are on the line, the last thing first responders should worry about is whether their communications will go through. Skymira’s technology fills in traditional coverage gaps by linking radios to cellular and satellite networks. Through our partnership with Verizon, agencies can extend land mobile radio coverage wherever they operate – strengthening connectivity for those who protect and serve.”

This partnership demonstrates both companies’ commitment to keeping mission-critical communications connected in every situation. By combining Verizon’s network infrastructure with Skymira’s specialized technology, agencies can extend their radio coverage wherever cellular and satellite service reaches for increased officer safety and operational success.
